Class of 2026 valedictorian Kiara Sowan, pictured with mic, participated in a July 11 presentation to a packed auditorium (estimated audience of more than 2,000 in person and livestream) at Foothills Camp and Retreat Centre near Bowden, Alberta. As part of Inspire Mamawi Leadership (IML)—a joint effort between Mamawi Atosketan school and the Adventist Church in Maskwacis—Kiara and her teammates , who have participated in IML for two to three years, helped in children’s divisions during the 10-day event at the camp. Kiara is enrolled at the University of Alberta and commences studies this fall. Her classmates and IML teammates Dallas Saddleback and Sean Saddleback (left) and Tashay Headman (not pictured) were accepted into Northern Alberta Institute of Technology programs.
