Ten MANS junior and senior high students who participated in the Oct-May leadership training initiative created by Tsholo Sebetlela, school chaplain and Maskwacis pastor, applied and interviewed for positions on the 13-year old seasonal Summer Youth Team—twice the number who applied last year.
The increase in applications for the Summer Youth Team corresponds with a marked increase in participation in this the second year of MANS’ in-school leadership program, Inspire Mamawi. The optional leadership training program brings Maskwacis community leaders and students together monthly.

Summer Youth Team Expands: Last year’s team of 50% Maskwacis youth team, pictured, engaged in work that grows leadership skills while working in their community, other reserves and around the province and NWT. The 2023 team will be bigger and 67% Indigenous.
